Mrs. Zuge

I have been teaching for the Erin School District since 2002. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Environmental Education from UW Stevens Point and am licensed to teach Pre-K through third grade with a DPI license code #083. I also graduated with a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from Carroll University in 2010.
I decided to pursue a career in education after having several wonderful experiences working with children at summer camp jobs and pre-school/daycare settings throughout high school and college. It was during those years that I realized my calling is to work with young children. I enjoy learning new ways to help my students succeed in school and strive to help each of my students have a positive school experience.

5K Grades
Students are graded on individual progress and effort. A portfolio conference, which include students' work samples is held during the first term. Report cards are sent home every term.
There is no formal homework, but parents are encouraged to review skills that have been covered in class. Weekly newsletters keep parents informed about current skill and goal expectations. Reading with your child should be part of your nightly routine.
5K Content
In 5 year old kindergarten, it is understood and acknowledged that all children are not the same and learn information at different times in their lives. Although we have expectations, as a team of professional educators, we assist all students no matter where they are in their learning level and raise them to their highest ability. We place a high priority on reading and writing readiness with a focus on phonemic awareness and comprehension skills. In our math curriculum we strive to help students have a greater understanding of the value of numbers and mathematical concepts beyond number identification and counting. Kindergarten is also a time to develop social skills. We teach students the value of respect, community, responsibility and working together with others.
5 Year Old Kindergarten Discipline Policy
Students receive 2 verbal warnings to remind them to make a better choice and correct their behavior. If the misbehavior continues, it will result in the loss of classroom privileges such as free play. Parents are contacted if misbehavior becomes consistent.
